Occurrence of Lepomis (Osteichthys: Centrarchidae) in Horn Island Ponds

Beckett DC, Viskup BJ, Ross ST. 1992. Occurrence of Lepomis (Osteichthys: Centrarchidae) in Horn Island Ponds. Northeast Gulf Science. 12(2):129-133

A survey of the Lepomis spp. (bluegill (Lepomis macrochirus), redear sunfish (Lepomis microlophus), and spotted sunfish (Lepomus punctatus)) found in the ponds on Horn Island in the Gulf Islands National Seashore, Florida and Mississippi. Fish were sampled by repeated seine hauls from several of the ponds on the island. The following environmental parameters were recorded for each of the ponds sampled: salinity, pond areas, and depths. The results are discussed and presented in tabular form.
