On Some New Fishes from South Dakota

Cope ED. 1891. On Some New Fishes from South Dakota. The American Naturalist. 25(295):654-658

Specimens of fossil fishes, preserved on slabs of a soft, chalky rock, and well preserved are described. The age of the horizon has not been determined. It is overlaid by a thin layer of glacial drift. There are five species, all new to science. Speculation is made as to their probable geologic age.
