Schizas NV and Shirley TC. 1994. Onychocamptus krusensterni (Copepoda, Harpacticoida, Laophontidae)--a new species from Krusenstern Lagoon, Alaska. Crustaceana. 66(2):227-238
This article by University of Alaska researchers describes a new species of harpacticoid copepod discovered during a 1992 survey of benthic and epibenthic invertebrates in lagoons of Cape Krusenstern. The described species is unique among members of Onychocamptus in that it has five spines and setae on the distal exopod segment of swimming leg 4 of females and because of unusual ornamentation of the antennules of males. The phylogeny and descriptive terminology for the new species, Onychocamptus krusensterni, is given.
