This report, conducted in 1985 along the 1889 Lake Conemaugh shoreline at the Johnstown Flood National Memorial, summarizes the nature and composition of present plant communities and evaluates the feasibility of establishing herbaceous communities. Specifically, the report: (1) evaluates topographic features, soil and existing vegetation; (2) develops alternatives for converting existing vegetation to herbaceous communities; and, (3) determines the feasibility of a vegetational screen for the railroad bed that dissects the lakebed
