This text reports on an ornithological survey of wetlands on the islands of Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, Maui and Hawaii, under a contract from the US Army Corps of Engineers. The objectives of the study were 1) to prepare an inventory of birds of the study sites; 2) to evaluate current condition of the sites as waterbird habitat, and 3) to compile relevant biolgoical data on wetland birds; and 4) to compile existing data on the study sites. There was also an attempt to consider the impacts of disturbance. There is a coarse scale map of each island showing point locations of the wetlands. Each site has pictures. A total of 78 wetland areas on five islands are treated individually, although several large areas are made up of more than one wetland site. Sites were surveyed by air as well as ground.
