Ozone injury on Pinus strobus in permanent plots at Shenandoah National Park: 1986 survey results

Sanchini PJ. 1989. Ozone injury on Pinus strobus in permanent plots at Shenandoah National Park: 1986 survey results. Butler University; National Park Service. Denver, Colorado

In mid-1986, random samples of eastern white pine foliage was taken from Shenandoah National Park. Samples were evaluated for presence and severity of ozone injury symptoms: chlorotic mottle and tipburn. Percent needle area occupied by these symptoms was estimated visually in the field. Although an average of 67% of the trees evaluated showed some ozone injury, the severity of injury to needles averaged less than 10% of needle area
