The study investigates the relationship between the constituents of a desert plant community and the bird species associated with it. The presence of thorn trees and cacti in these plant communities encourages diversity in the bird species, providing various niches for feeding and for protected nests. The division of available foraging space and nest habitat was found to correlate with physical aspects of the individual plants.
