This report provides information on a periphytic microflora analysis which was conducted seasonally at sites near the confluence of 12 major tributaries and the Colorado River in Grand Canyon National Park and vicinity. Twenty one additional locations along the 225 mile stretch of the Colorado River were also examined. During spring, summer and fall of 1975, periphytic microflora analysis was conducted near the confluence of twelve major tributaries of the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon. A relatively high diversity of algae was found, combined with very little pollution. An overall system index of importance was calculated for each tributary to determine the systems contributing the most to the present diatom microflora of the Colorado river. A species list is included.
