Petrography, petrology, and magma mixing in the 1915 eruptions of Lassen Peak, California
Clynne MA. 1987. Petrography, petrology, and magma mixing in the 1915 eruptions of Lassen Peak, California
Discusses the role of several types of magma mixing to create magmas that produced the lithologies on Lassen Peak in 1915. When looking at the products of the 1915 eruption, mixing occurred by incorporation of foreign phenocrysts, disaggregation of quenched inclusions, and recycling of resorbed phenocrysts. The author looks at the role of solid components in magma-mixing processes as more important than commonly recognized.
