Johnson DA and Van Daele L. 1989. Annual progress report furbearers survey and inventory activities FY 1989 Study area, game management units 9 and 10-15. Alaska Department Fish and Game. Juneau, AK
This annual progress report covers furbearers of the Alaska Peninsula. Species addressed include beaver, coyote, red fox, arctic fox, lynx, marten, mink, muskrat, land otter, and wolverine. No field work was done; information comes from incidental observations during moose, caribou, and brown bear surveys. Estimates of annual furbearer harvests are derived from furbearer sealing certificates (for beaver, lynx, otter, and wolverine) and the combined total of trapper export numbers and dealer acquisition reports. Harvest and population status and trends are given for each species. The author believes that furbearers are being harvested below their sustainable yield.
