This report describes research activities during the second year of a five-year study into the flora and vegetational ecology of ISRO. This years objectives were: (1) to continue with the annual sampling of the vegetation invading two recent burns; (2) to begin a study of plant communities on the outer rocky exposed shores of Lake Superior ( Three new species were found which had not been previously recorded for ISRO); (3) to study the effect of seed source on the reproduction of the balsam fir and white spruce by investigating how the quantity of reproduction changes with distance from the boundary of large burns; (4) to continue with the ISRO flora project including inventorying all vascular plants and determining their relative abundance in various habitats and (5) to continue making observations on the effects of beaver and moose on the park vegetation.
