Romme WH, Heil KD, Porter JM, Fleming R. 1993. Plant communities of Capitol Reef National Park, Utah. Technical Report NPS/NAUCARE/NRTR-93/02. National Park Service, Cooperative Park Studies Unit, Northern Arizona University. Flagstaff, AZ

Thirty-four plant community types and thirteen phases are identified and described in Capitol Reef National Park. The system of communities and phases (a subunit of a community type) developed for the Park was compared with other classification systems developed elsewhere on the Colorado Plateau; eleven of Capitol Reef's community types are either unique to the Park or have not been described elsewhere. This paper also presents a rationale and methodology for producing a vegetation map of the Park. Includes tables and an appendix.
