Research on rare plant species and on the movement of sand in the Grand Sable Dunes of Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, MI has documented that there have been changes in plant communities and in the physical landscape of the dunes. Changes in the lake level of Lake Superior have influenced dune dynamics, plant succession, habitat, and disturbance of habitat.
