Author's abstract "The Highland Rim portion of the Natchez Trace Parkway was sampled for comparison on three year, four to eight years, fifteen to twenty years, and twenty-five year old field concerning succession of plants on old abandoned crop fields. The variations in previous studies on plant succession were found to be somewhat in contrast to the findings reported in this study. These differences can be contributed to the different soil structure, absence of limestone in some areas, and weather variations". This brief report includes a 4-page table which lists the plant species (herbaceous, shrubs & vines, and trees) and indicates which age of fields they were found in.
