A physical and natural resource survey was conducted of the ponds and lagoons on Horn and Petit Bois Islands, Gulf Islands National Seashore, Mississippi. The paper describes the geophysical characteristics of Petit Bois Island's 17 ponds and lagoons (that comprise 3.2% of the islands' total land mass) and Horn Island's 63 ponds and lagoons (that comprise 5.8% of the island's land mass). In addition, the paper addresses the evolution of new ponds and lagoons developing on the 2 islands. All ponds and lagoons were found to consist of high-saline to brackish-water. The paper also reviews literature addressing biological populations (plant and animal) for the ponds.
