A study to determine the effects of Assateague Island feral pony grazing on the island's vegetation, the home range and habitat utilization of individual pony bands, the size, sex, and age structure of each pony band, and the foaling rate for the pony population. A secondary goal was to initiate collection of similar data from the island's sika and white-tailed deer populations. Includes sections on methodology, population dynamics and social organization of the ponies, habitat utilization of the ponies, effects of pony grazing, sizes of deer population, deer food habits, pH of deer pellets, data from deer hunting, conclusions and recommendations.
