Population dynamics and denning ecology of black bears in Shenandoah National Park, VA was studied from 1982 to 1985. Radio collars were placed on 47 bears in the park, and 142 other captures were made to gather data on age, size, litter size, and mortality. Den sites were identified and categorized as to type and orientation.
