Results of a study conducted from February 1980 to July 1981 to determine population and behavior of the feral horse population on Cumberland Island: size, distribution, and foraging habits (plants consumed, habitats utilized, effect on vegetation.) Includes sections on historical records; field methodology (ground surveys, immobilization of animals to take samples to determine health); study results (number of horses and groups, ages and sexes, foaling rates, population growth); forage and habitat utilization; and management recommendations in light of findings.
