This is a detailed report of the life history and historical distribution of the rare V. brittoniana (Britton's or the coast violet). Intensive searching in1992 did not find any specimens in Minute Man Historical Park, although most populations are found along the Concord (MA) River (which runs through the Park). A description of the floodplain of this river is given. Recomendations are made to promote better habitate.
