This report investigates the potential geologic hazards in the areas of greatest use in Lassen Volcanic National Park. The first objective is to analyze the potential hazards in the Manzanita Lake area. Hazards along the Lassen Park Road, near Cinder Cone, and at two of the park's geothermal areas (Bumpass Hell and Devils Kitchen) were assessed last. It consist of four main sections (Brief summary, geological events of the last 12,000 years, geologic hazards, conclusions and recommendations) and six appendices (including definitions of geologic terms and other detailed information). Also included are maps showing landslide areas south of Lassen Peak, a view of Diamond Peak, and a location map of the northwest part of the park and adjacent areas. A table is given to present the kinds of potential geological hazards and the degrees of risk in areas around Manzanita Lake.
