A preliminary study of the growth of the giant clam (Tridacna maxima) conducted from April 18-May 3, 1984 and October 17-29, 1984 on Rose Atoll, American Samoa. Numerous clams were marked for growth, samples of clam pigmentation were taken, and hydrographic equipment was deployed to collect water temperature, salinity, currents, etc. Results show that the giant clam densities vary considerable in relation to depth and substrates.
