Report documenting the research and rehabilitation in Bandelier National Monument, New Mexico, following the La Mesa fire in Santa Fe National Forest in June 1977, in which 15,000 acres were burned, 'three-quarters of the burn was on Monument lands; about one-third of the total park acreage.' Research projects included a survey and analysis of archeological sites, monitoring water quality, analysis of streamflow and sediment, completion of soils inventory, monitoring changes in soil nutrients, impact of fire on vegetative communities, collection of vascular plants, invertebrate studies, effects on Jemez Mountain salamanders (endangered), bird studies, small mammal studies, and ungulate studies.
