This 1974 document is a U.S. Dept. of the Interior final environmental statement for the proposed Chukchi-Imuruk National Reserve. The U.S. National Park Service (NPS) proposes establishment of a 2,708,034 acre National Reserve on the Seward Peninsula about 100 miles north of Nome to be administered as a unit of the National Park System. The report proposes a new management concept whereby the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service would provide personnel and participate in the management of the unit's fish and wildlife resources through a cooperative agreement with NPS. The report contains a proposed conceptual master plan to guide management and development of the area and considers several alternatives, including no action, alternative management concepts, boundary alternatives, and alternatives to the master plan.
