I Recent Changes in Trophic Status of Duck and Bennett Ponds Relative to Possible Landfill Enrichment II Evolution of Interdunal Ponds in the Provincelands Cape Cod National Seashore..... There are two parts to this final report on the Provincetown ponds: "Recent Changes in Trophic Status of Duck and Bennett Ponds Relative to Possible Landfill Enrichment" and "Evolution of Interdunal Ponds in the Provincelands Cape Cod National Seashore", although nothing appears to have been photocopied from the second part. The major findings and recommendations of Part I are found in the 3-page Executive Summary. Both Duck and Bennett Ponds have undergone recent eutrophication indicated by such things as: changes in diatom species and increases in carbonates and organics in top sediments; increases in phosphorus, total dissolved solids, alkalinity, specific conductance, pH, chlorides, and coliform counts in the water; and a dramatic increase in sedimentation rate. The Provincetown Municipal Landfill is nearby and responsible in part for these changes. The report also discusses the evolution of the two ponds.
