Remains of 3 large Late Cretaceous pterosaurs have been found in the Tornillo Group of Big Bend National Park. Fossil remains include: wings, neck, hind legs, and mandibles. These fossils were found in nonmarine sediment. The estimated wingspan of the flying creature is 15.5 meters, making it the largest flying creature known. The Big Bend specimens are compared with other similar species. The Big Bend pterosaur is noteworthy for its slender cervical vertebrae.
