A total of 33 stranded dead marine animals on Assateague Island National Seashore between the Ocean City inlet and the Maryland/Virginia state line from 2008-2009. 16 were sea turtles and 17 were marine mammals. From 1991 through 2009, the average number of animals stranding per year was 19 and the range was eight to 34 animals.
