This project contains links to holdings containing documents and geospatial data products resulting from the NPS involvement in the Department of the Interior (DOI) Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Programmatic Environmental Impact Statement for Solar Energy Development in Six Southwestern Sates (Solar PEIS). Resource indicators have been identified to assess potential impacts to National Park Service administered areas as a result of land use developments near or adjacent to NPS units. In response to the potential for solar energy development in the six western states of AZ, CA, CO, NM, NV, and UT best available data have been compiled for fifty-three park units to reflect resources on adjacent lands. The project and resulting geospatial products are intended specifically to address those areas potentially under consideration by the Bureau of Land Management in their Programmatic Environmental Impact Statement (PEIS) to evaluate utility-scale solar energy development. While the suite of products do not reflect all resource considerations several key concerns are addressed, including: visual resources, landscape dynamics, adjacent land use, water resources, soil resources, connectivity, night skies, and naturalness. Readily available source geospatial data have been processed to facilitate analysis on a park-by-park basis.
