'This spectacular phenomenon was shared with many new and returning visitors who had never experienced this event. Cadillac Mountain makes a great spot due to its height and the location on the coastline. Migrating birds of prey often follow physical landmarks that lead south such as coastlines and mountain ranges.' This is a two page report with numerous tables of various statistics summarizing data. Hawkwatch was conducted daily form August 22-October 11 from 9 am to 2 pm. A toal of 2,439 migrating raptors flew past the site. Summary results of the 2006 hawkwatch in Acadia National Park are included, tables of data that give the number of each species observed on each day in August , September, and October. Data for the 2005 season are also provided along with information on daily visitor and staff statistics, a table for hawkwatch visitor statistics since 1995, species totals year to year, and ANP raptor records over the years. /STUDY LOCATIONS:/ /MOUNT DESERT ISLAND/Cadillac Mountain
