This Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) outlines the procedure for installing fixed station water quality data stations. The housing that contains the YSI Model 6600 Long-term Water Quality Monitoring Data sonde (henceforth referred to as “the data sonde”) is a 4-inch diameter Schedule 40 PVC pipe, which is secured to a stable structure, such as a dock piling or channel marker. The data sonde is suspended within the housing allowing the probes to hang 1 meter from the bottom, the desired height above the sediment for consistent network-wide measurements.
