The purpose of this SOP is to standardize instrument handling, maintenance, calibration, deployment, and post deployment procedures for the Southeast Coast Network Inventory and Monitoring Program. Sonde deployment and retrievals are usually done in conjunction with water sample collection following procedures set forth in SOP 1.2.11 Fixed Station Water Sample Collection. This SOP does not replace latest versions of the YSI 6-Series manual thus the user should be familiar with procedures in this manual. This Standard Operating Procedure was adapted from the National Estuarine Research Reserve’s System-Wide Monitoring Program (SWMP) Standard Operating Procedure (Version 3, Wenner and Geist 2001) and outlines procedures for deploying and retrieving sondes from fixed mounts as well as other related subtasks.
