Natural Resource Inventory and Monitoring, Species Lists
Natural Resource Inventory and Monitoring, Species Lists.
As one of the 12 core natural resource inventories, the I&M program provided parks with funding and technical assistance to compile existing data and to undertake targeted field investigations to document the occurrence of the species of vascular plants and vertebrates (birds, mammals, fish, amphibians, reptiles) occurring in approximately 270 parks with significant natural resources. While the original push to generate basic certified species lists for these park units has concluded (2010), a product of this program was to build software for managing data collected in this effort as well as the ability to maintain these park species lists into the future. That platform is hosted here: https://irma.nps.gov/NPSpecies and houses the work in progress park species lists as the next generation of inventories continues. Projects as part of this program are connected to the Inventory and Monitoring Network program records and not linked here.
