The purpose of this project is to compile species of concern lists from the states and territories for the IRMA MatchList system. This reflects the primary source information from the state or territory, and does not filter state status by park. An example of an appropriate use is to supplement park species lists with output on the park species list full list with details in the state status column in NPSpecies. Each state vends their data in a variety of formats therefore, each associated reference will be in the form of a data set, report, or web site depending on how the state conveys their species status. While some state status values convey species are legally protected, other status values are for information purposes only. Status definitions are also entered into lookup lists by state in the database. The state species list with state status is then transformed into a Electronic Data Delivery (EDD) format for ingestion into the database used in IRMA after matching the scientific names to the IRMA Taxonomy system. Scientific name matching occurs using an exact scientific name match, favoring the ITIS classification source over other ad-hoc classification sources (e.g., user entered names) when multiple name matches are available.
