Braund-Allen J, Johnson S, Johnson W, Koltun B, Dratch K, Frakes B. Alaska Region Data Store Reference Cleanup. 2011-2014
Alaska Region Data project to correct 30,000 references in IRMA Data Store using a team of librarians from the Alaska Resources Library and Information Services (ARLIS). In 2011, the National Park Service began a three-year project with the Alaska Resources Library and Information Services (ARLIS) to remove duplicate records and to improve bibliographic quality for approximately 30,000 records in the Alaska section of its Data Store national database. The goal was to have no duplicate records appearing in database searches, and to have records that were returned meet library standards. Along with providing NPS with corrected data files, ARLIS also produced a manual of best practices for entering future ARLIS references as well as a report on project outcome. The corrections were applied to Data Store through the efforts of the I&M Support Office.
