In 2013, full staffing with 100% returning employees from the previous season allowed the Grand Canyon National Park (GRCA) Fire Ecology Program to complete all scheduled work while crewmembers also participated in a wide variety of opportunities supporting incidents nationally and locally. With monitoring of 29 Fire Monitoring Handbook (FMH) plots, 42 Rapid Assessment Protocol (RAP) pilot sampling plots, 81 Composite Burn Index (CBI) burn severity plots, and 14 Inventory & Monitoring (I&M) plots, it was a successful year while battling one of the wettest monsoon thunderstorm seasons on record in northern Arizona.
