In Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve, there has been a continuing demand for the subsistence use of forest resources. Most requests are by local residents for green timber to be used as houselogs or firewood. There are a number of year-round residents and landowners that qualify as subsistence users in the vicinity of several timber stands in the park/preserve, including the Reeve Field, Devil’s Mountain, Dan Creek, Spruce Point, and McCarthy Creek stands. An initial inventory of each of these five stands from the Nabesna and Chitina districts, including the Nabesna Road, McCarthy Road, Chisana, and an inventory of the Yakutat district is included in this collection.
