The purpose of this Cultural Landscape Report (CLR) is to describe a comprehensive approach to managing the resources at Marconi/RCA Bolinas Transmitting Station and RCA Point Reyes Receiving Station Historic District, Point Reyes National Seashore and to provide site-specific guidance to ensure that their integrity is retained. Major improvements or new construction projects are not envisioned or underway at either site; however, preservation maintenance activities are critical to prevent further deterioration of important landscape features. The treatment recommendations presented here for the preservation and rehabilitation of this nationally significant historic industrial, agricultural and designed landscape are also framed by contemporary park operations. They recommend sustainable long-term preservation maintenance in the context of ongoing permitted uses and lease agreements, continued operation of the radio stations, and the possibility of other compatible adaptive uses in the future. The two sites are historically related and are associated with the development of world-wide wireless communications during the period of 1913-1973. The historic design, materials, and workmanship of the era are still evident in the buildings, structures, and antenna field. The Mission Revival and Art Deco style of the architecture has been largely unaltered. The organization of the buildings to meet utilitarian and residential needs has been retained. Structures at the Point Reyes Receiving Station have been rehabilitated for NPS administrative purposes and grazing continues in the surrounding antenna fields under a special use permit
