Hopewell Culture National Historical Park: Cultural Landscape Report and Environmental Assessment, National Park Service. Cultural Landscape Report. NPS Midwest Regional Office. Midwest Regional Office, Omaha

The Hopewell Culture National Historical Park in south-central Ohio is a network of six archeological earthwork complexes built by the American Indian Hopewell people, whose civilization flourished between circa CE 1 and CE 400. The park units represent some of the finest examples of Hopewellian resources. This Cultural Landscape Report/Environmental Assessment (CLR/EA) presents detailed documentation of Hopewell Culture NHP's historical development, evaluation of existing condition, analysis of landscape characteristics, determination of contributing features, and treatment recommendations. The report builds upon the numerous existing studies, investigations, and documents for the park. The CLR/EA is the primary document used to guide management and stewardship of Hopewell Culture NHP. The intent of the document is to provide a comprehensive and integrated guidance document that reflects the mission of the NPS and ensures that long-term preservation, stewardship, and visitor experience objectives are met to the maximum extent practicable.
