The reconstruction of the Bocock-Isbell Stable was a project initiated to complete the exterior outbuildings complex of the Bocock-Isbell House and to provide a place to conceal the Superintendent's automobile, seen as a modern intrusion to the historic scene. The size and design of the stable was determined by a study of a 1937 photograph showing the structure's appearance at that time. The original building was constructed from logs with weatherboard gable ends and a wooden shingle roof, with two west doors. Construction of the stable began under contract in November 1963 and was completed in March, 1964. This report contains the working drawings, specifications, and progress photographs of the reconstruction project. It suggests that additional progress photographs are available in files at Appomattox Court House National Historical Park.
