Kunkel R and Ochman J. 1977. Completion Report: Stabilization of Hokenson's Fish Dock and Buildings, Apostle Islands National Lakeshore. Historic Structure Report. U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service. NPS Midwest Regional Office
This completion report provides documentation for the stabilization of Hokenson's Fish Dock and Buildings at Apostle Islands National Seashore (HS-01-138B, HS-01-138A, HS-01-153A), for the day labor work order. Stabilization work was started in May 1977 and completed in November 1977 under project supervisors Ray Kunkel and John Ochman. This report provides the cost of the stabilization work, a narrative description of the work, and copies of photographs. The majority of work at this time addressed the fishhouse and the log crib foundation. All deteriorated logs and structural members were replaced or reinforced, including the plank walkway, interior flooring, and deteriorated siding. Both the fishhouse and the icehouse had been reroofed. Cuprinol treatment was applied to all unpainted siding. Temporary bracing was applied to the interior wall of the icehouse.
