Commonwealth Heritage Group (contractor) and Sargent L. 2018. Wilson's Creek National Battlefield: Environmental Assessment and Implementation of Cultural Landscape Report Treatment Recommendations. Cultural Landscape Report. U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service. Omaha, Nebraska
This report present actions the NPS is considering that are associated with the treatment recommendations developed in the 2004 Cultural Landscape Report (CLR) for Wilson's Creek National Battlefield. It aims to balance the park's future requirements for protection of the battlefield with enhancement of commemorative and contemplative qualities for visitor enjoyment and safety, through integrated cultural and natural resource management Changes made through the implementation of the action alternative will provide visitors with a stronger understanding of the relationship to the Civil War battle fought at the site. It will also provide visitors with experiences that will coincide with enhanced stewardship of the park's natural and cultural resources. The environmental assessment (EA) describes and analyzes two alternatives, one Action Alternative and a No Action Alternative. It includes an analysis of potential impacts and recommended mitigation measures related to their implementation. This document fulfills the requirement for compliance and review as specified by the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) to determine potential impacts of implementing the treatment recommendations in the 2004 CLR. As stated in the final EA, the proposed action would implement the CLR recommendation, provide a clear vision and direction for the protection of the park's cultural resources, and preserve the overall character of Wilson's Creek National Battlefield.
