Arnest HL. 1983. Historic Structure Report, Architectural Data Section: Phase I, Arlington House, The Robert E. Lee Memorial, Virginia. Historic Structure Report. U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service. Denver, Colorado
This report was prepared by Denver Service Center staff in September 1979 in anticipation of emergency stabilization measures that were undertaken and completed between 1979 and 1982. It was intended to record the aspects of the architectural/structural configuration of the Arlington House that would be altered by the work of this period. It does not represent a complete architectural data section. Those additional elements are included in the Phase II report. The report describes the Arlington House's history and notable changes to the structure, beginning in 1802. Recommendations based on the 1979 conditions are outlined by section of the structure.
