Historic Structures Report, Part I, Architectural Data Section on Light Tender's Quarters, Cape Hatteras National Seashore

Franzen AW. 1968. Historic Structures Report, Part I, Architectural Data Section on Light Tender's Quarters, Cape Hatteras National Seashore. Historic Structure Report. U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service. Washington, DC

This section of the Historic Structures Report for the Light Tender's Quarters at Cape Hatteras National Seashore contains architectural data, including description of the original structure, summary of existing conditions, and treatment recommendations. It is presumed that it was constructed in 1889 as a story and a half brick structure with a one story brick kitchen ell. It had been altered and enlarged since that time and was used as accommodation for visiting dignitaries. The report proposes restoration and refurnishing of the Light Tender's Quarters to better interpret the lighthouse story. Photographs of existing condition (1968), a 1906 map of the Cape Hatteras Station, and original construction plans for the dwelling are included.
