The purpose of this study was to provide an understanding of the architectural evolution of three buildings at Oakland Plantation in Natchitoches, Louisiana. The study aimed to provide technical assistance in support of the Historic Structures Assessment Report for the three buildings. The goal of this materials analysis and physical investigation of the Overseer's House, the Store and Post Office, and Main House was to provide information on the architectural evolution of each structure. Work included an analytical comparison of construction techniques, paint analysis, mortar analysis, and molding profile analysis. Historical documentation was made available to provide historical context for the physical analysis of the structures. Two one-week site visits were made to Oakland Plantation to conduct the physical examination and recording of the buildings. Report includes plans, historic photographs, contemporary photographs, and analysis results.
