The focus of this Level II Cultural Landscape Inventory was to identify and document, through photographs and measurements, the existing landscape features and character-defining elements of the Faraway Ranch homestead as it functioned as a guest ranch and cattle ranch. The report was compiled by means of a literature review, site visits, and a review of photographs, maps, and documents located at the Chiricahua National Monument and at the Western Archeological Conservation Center. The Faraway Ranch within Chiricahua National Monument is a historic vernacular landscape that dates from the late nineteenth century. The National Register nomination form states that structures in the historic district are significant in areas of architecture, conservation, pioneering, business (farming and ranching), and social (immigration and women) history.
