This document provides the history, existing conditions, and work proposal to accompany stabilization work on the Evitts Creek Aqueduct (Aqueduct 11) at Chesapeake and Ohio Canal. The aqueduct, a single arch aqueduct with a span of just under 70 feet, is located just below milepost 181 on the canal near Cumberland. The stabilization work proposed for the Evitts Creek Aqueduct will be accomplished by constructing a steel frame on the upstream and downstream sides of the arch, composed of vertical steel channel sections with horizontal timber bracing. The upstream-downriver pilaster and wingwall were also planned to be reconstructed.
