This report documents a project that was initiated in November 1934 to restore the French Battery at Colonial National Monument for interpretation purposes. A crew of about forty men from CCC Company No. 1351, under supervision of Engineering Foreman F. G. Farthing, surveyed the terrain and reconstructed the earthworks. It describes the research that was undertaken to plan for the project in order to determine the locations and characteristics of earthworks. Report sections describe history, excavation, and constriction of the First Parallel, Moat Trench, Battery Proper (Field Gun Section), Mortar Battery, Howitzer Battery, Magazines, and Boyau. Photos documenting the work are included.
