This report was prepared as the historic preservation consultation element of the overall Crater Lake Lodge Study. It is one part of the study that included the architect's report and the structural, mechanical, electrical, landscaping, and cost analysis reports from those consultants. The project team members met and stayed at the lodge to perform the evaluation of its conditions and to plan for its preservation and rehabilitation. Objectives of the historic preservation and architectural conservator services were: 1) To survey the building for historic preservation concerns and identify specific elements of the historically important building; and 2) To make a survey of maps and historic photographs to document the history of snow drifting around the lodge before and after construction of the 1923 addition and of the topography of the rim area north of the lodge.
