Dodd JB, National Park Service, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. 1975. Historical Architectural Survey of Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. Historic Structure Report. U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service. Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

This two-volume report surveys the historic architecture of the Delaware Valley. The survey was conducted as a joint project between the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the National Park Service. Volume I includes parts 1-6, which survey segments 1-128 of the Pennsylvania section of the valley, while volume II includes parts 7-12, which survey segments 2-116 of the New Jersey and New York sections of the valley. The survey is a follow-up to a cursory survey performed earlier in the year, providing a more comprehensive accounting of the buildings in the area after the cancellation of the Tocks Island Dam. Surveys are organized according to segments and tract numbers, sourced from the maps of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Each entry includes the tract number, owner's name, road, township and county, date of construction, materials of construction, architectural plans, photographs, and evaluation. Site evaluation was done was placing each site into one of eight categories, assessing the buildings for historic importance, potential use by the National Park Service, and preservation recommendations. The buildings surveyed within display a variety of architectural styles, with some buildings revealing two or more historical periods of architecture. The report recommends the preservation of such buildings as representative of the culture of the Delaware Valley, with particular attention paid to those buildings constructed post-1840.
