This report surveys the historic structures present on the Slateford Farm complex, providing both historical and architectural data on the complex. Historical research traces the property's history, from Thomas and Richard Penn's initial acquisition of the land from Native Americans of the Delaware Nation through the 1737 Walking Purchase through the National Park Service's acquisition of the property. The historical research gives light to the variety of uses the complex has had in its history: farm, quarry, schoolhouse, summer retreat, and public land. Brown contends that the continuity of the property combined with its variety of uses makes for a valuable interpretive site. The architectural research investigates how best to accommodate the park's interpretive program without sacrificing the site's historic integrity. The architectural investigation consists of a structural engineering analysis, a mechanical engineering analysis, an electrical engineering analysis, a sanitary engineering analysis, a life safety code analysis, a handicapped access analysis, an energy conservation analysis, an updated set of existing condition drawings, an updated package estimating detail, and a comprehensive narrative updating the changes in the structures' existing conditions, along with expanded recommendations concerning types of treatments and their specific applications.
