Historic Structures Report, Part II, Architectural Data Section: Rehabilitation of Garage (Bldg. 15)

Souder NM. 1965. Historic Structures Report, Part II, Architectural Data Section: Rehabilitation of Garage (Bldg. 15). Historic Structure Report. U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service

The Garage at Glenmont has remained in virtually unaltered condition from its construction in 1908 to the time of this report, however time and the lack of constant maintenance has resulted in spalling of the more exposed surface areas of the concrete. This report finds the roofing in an advanced state of deterioration, that water and electric service is inadequate, and that the heating system is no longer functioning. The proposed occupancy of the building is included in the Administrative Section of the Historic Structures Report, Part I. While the appropriation for Fiscal Year 1965 provided only for the rehabilitation of the exterior and utilities, this report takes the plans for the future occupancy of the second floor into consideration. Adequate utilities must be provided at the present time to serve future requirements. Included in the recommendations of this report is a plan suggesting the layout of the employees quarters and artifact storage room on the second floor. This report covers both the Fiscal Year 1965 plans and plans for future interior work.
